Travel Infrastructure Expansion

Due to the tourism influx, the current flight time slot of the airport is not enough and Airports of Thailand (AOT) is speeding up the construction of the new Andaman International Airport, the second airport of Phuket, to accommodate the rising number of tourists. According to Bangkok Post, it will serve as an extension of Phuket International Airport and the two airports are expected to handle 18 million passengers per year.

Moreover, Phuket is also rolling out new highways. Highways 402 and 4027 along with the harbor underpass are set to ease the flow of cars and buses. The roads will also link to the new Phuket International Airport making your trips smoother.

Tourism Boom Continues in 2024

At the end of November last year, the number of travelers exceeded 10 millions generating 330 billion baht as per Bangkok Post. During the New Year holiday, Phuket welcomed more than 250,000 visitors with 70% being tourists and the occupancy rate reached 82%. The majority of tourists came from Russia, followed by China, India, Australia and the UK.
